A few weeks ago the kids and I made a trip back to Point Reyes to view the Elephant Seals.
The pups (the darker ones) had grown very big, and the males were establishing territory for mating season. Only the males get the trunks like an elephant.
We stopped at Drake's Bay Oyster Farm to get oysters to take home. The boys had fun climbing the piles of shells.
I've had a craft idea in mind for the oysters shells we already have here. If I need more, I know where to go.
Here are the kids' finished mugs.
Athan's is the brown mug (just like hot chocolate), Cora's the purple and green striped, Gavin's with the smiley faces, and Obi's with the blue/green/yellow stripes.
We had fun defying gravity at the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz.
Enjoyed fresh crab on the beach, and saw our first sea otter.
This last Sunday we visited Calaveras Big Trees State Park. Here the kids stand on a stump.
Pictures of these trees, don't do them much justice. This is our second time to see these big trees. We also saw them on our trip to our home in September at Sequoia National Monument.
It is just neat to sit and enjoy the grand beauty of these giants.
I asked Cora to give the tree a hug to show how big it is.
Gavin and Athan were able to sit on a shelf of sorts on this tree.
We demanded them to make us cookies, but they refused.
The sequoia cone war began.
Now we are packed and ready for our visit back to Iowa. The kids (and maybe I am too) are very excited! The older 3 have flown in a very small plane, but this will be the first commercial flight for all of them. Hopefully we can see as many of you as possible during our stay.
